Virtualization is a process that allows one piece of hardware to run a number of operating system images all at the same time. Prior to its inception, the standard for x86 servers was to only run one application to one server. This was fine until more and more servers were needed to meet the growing demands of the IT world, as data center managers were spending millions of dollars on wasted server space.

But now, virtualization has changed everything, for one machine can run a multitude of applications, each isolated into one virtual operating system, completely separated from the others.

As a subsidiary of EMC, VMware popped onto the technology scene in 1998, beginning as a start-up company and soaring to become one of the driving forces in virtualization in just a few short years. In 2005, virtualization technology came in to mainstream awareness faster than anyone could have ever imagined - including many IT experts. Not only did it fly right on through the developmental software stages, it fell headlong into the data center… all within a year.

Recent times have seen the IT world look for different means of consolidating that would assist in running their systems more efficiently. Virtualization software from companies such as Platespin was just in time to initiate and capitalize on the momentum for this new technology, seeing nothing short of outstanding adoption rates and customer satisfaction. The latest estimates even show that nearly 75% of all companies with at least 500 employees are installing virtual servers, with nearly half of those who are already utilizing the technology stating that of all new servers purchased, close to half of them will be virtualized.

Other companies besides Platespin have entered the virtualization market as well. Microsoft has had quite a bit of luck creating and marketing its own virtualization software, mostly due to their large customer base. Xen is another, with its software currently breaking into the market. Of course, just like anything else, software is certain to have a kink or two as it passes from a magazine headline to the adoption process, so buyers would do well to go with a trusted name when purchasing a solution

So what’s next for virtualization?

Many of the experts claim that management of this in-demand technology is right around the corner, as current users aren’t mixing and matching technologies, but are simply utilizing them for one purpose- either networking, storage, or systems. If your concerns are related to storage, you would work with storage virtualization. Ideally, all virtualizations of one company would be able to be pooled and be tied together or moved around as needed. As with any new technology, the question of automation has been popping up throughout the conversations of vendors and customers. Is it possible? Yes, it is. Will it happen? I predict it will…

What is virtualization, you may ask? In computer terms, it tends to mean the act of making a single hardware resource able to function as multiple functional resources. This includes an instance of one machine able to use different characteristics to work as a single logical resource.

In most cases a work station or server only has a single operating system. For example, it could be Vista or XP for work stations, or it could be a Windows 2003 server. But what if you wanted a ‘multi-lingual’ server or work station? A computer can attain the ability to support multiple operating systems with the use of virtualization. That is, the virtual work station can handle either Vista or Windows 2000. Additinally, a server could alternately have multiple copies of Windows 2003 running, including one for your overall files, one to run the SQL, and another for your financial applications.

There is another important issue to consider when evaluating hardware capital investment: resources are the main factor driving today’s work stations and servers. For this reason it is surprising to realize the unfortunate situation in today’s business world: most computer hardware resources are greatly underutilized, with spare power to process and storage memory all left idle.

Most servers are working at only 15% capacity of the level of processing possible, and at 30% of the available memory. Virtualization maximizes these underutilized resources by forming a platform which enables encapsulated operating systems to max out your hardware capital. Addition of new servers is not necessary when the situation requires upgrades or additions, and instead new virtual servers can be added to the existing hardware. This can help to reduce costs in terms of new capital, energy use and storage space required for infrastructure.

Virtualization supplies small business with increased flexibility which cannot be supplied by a regular environment. There are plenty of businesses which use legacy applications which won’t run on current operating system. A Windows NT, 98, or 2000 computer left running on the environment can cause big security risks and problems with administration - particularly if it’s an old machine on an old operating system. These legacy applications can run virtually on another robust work station, instead of supporting a legacy work station. This makes them both secure and on-demand. Virtualization also enables you to build infrastructure without ‘hardware sprawl.’ If the company requires another server to accommodate growth or applications, you can annex a virtual server to the robust server, thereby keeping the implementation cost down because you won’t need the next six-thousand-dollar server.

There are additional benefits to virtualization. For example, there is support for operating systems as varied as Unix, Linux, and Solaris, and complete work stations and servers can be made redundant or restored for ease of portability. These virtualized servers and work stations can be relocated to other machines without much difficulty in the case of system failure or the need to upgrade. It is possible to maximize these available resources and use virtualization to reach your resource availability goals.

There is a lot of buzz going around about Virtualization. What is Virtualization, and what benefits does it provide? In this article we will take a look at the technology to see how it can provide a great deal of flexibility and cost effectiveness for IT professionals and software developers.

Virtualization technology allows multiple virtual machines to run on a single host computer. These virtual machines can run different operating systems, such as Windows, Linux and UNIX. Each virtual machine has its own set of virtual hardware resources (e.g., CPU, RAM, Hard Drive, etc) allowing the operating system to run as if it were installed on a physical machine.

The benefits of Virtualization technology are far reaching. Many organizations have moved to the virtual machine solution to consolidate multiple servers, running side by side on a single physical machine. Server consolidation allows IT professionals to fully utilize server resources, while isolating virtual machines and allowing them to run different operating systems and applications. Software developers utilize virtual machine technology to quickly test applications on different operating systems, without the hassle of setting up multiple physical machines for testing or taking the risk of causing problems by testing in a production environment.

You can run Virtualization software on pretty much any platform. Once the software is installed it is simple to create virtual machine instances. Virtual machines are just a set of files located on the host machine. You configure your virtual machine settings on the host computer, install the operating system and you are ready to go. It is a very common practice to use a master image of a virtual machine. This master image can be a fully configured machine, with the operating system and all required applications installed. You can then rapidly deploy virtual machines by copying the master image to multiple Virtualization hosts to provide zero downtime and 100% server availability.

There are a number of Virtualization products available. VMWare, which is probably the most popular, recently announced that it will be releasing a free version of its GSX Server product. This will allow any organization to host virtual machines on either Windows or Linux hosts. Other Virtualization products include Microsoft’s Virtual Server and SWsoft’s Virtuozzo, just to name a few.

The computer technology with its vast diversity is changing lives of so many people around the globe by providing efficient, fast and reliable tools in the form of internet, and other stand alone solutions.

Computer soft-wares and internet based e-commerce are the fastest growing and one of the most promising industries in the world. Information technology related industries are having a profound effect on almost all aspects of the modern economy.

Today many traditional manufacturing firms are turning towards utilizing the computer technology including computer software and computer networks. Say for example, the automobile manufacturers are using computer related soft-wares such as computer aided designs (CAD) to help design new vehicles, computer aided manufacturing software to assemble these designs and digital networks to purchase component parts and distribute vehicles to customers. There are hardly any business ventures or institutions of learning and other organizations that are not already employing or are seriously thinking to employ modern day computer technology for their day to day routines. The use of information technology not only makes sense in making the tasks easier but also translates into generating more revenues.

An increasingly wide range of companies, whether they sell information or do any sort of business are using the digital networks, principally the internet, to market products to millions of users and transact business deals.

In the late 1940’s scientists developed the first machines that could store and use encoded instructions or programs. In the beginning the users performing a variety of computations had to rewrite the basic hardware of the computers. Later on the innovations dramatically changed and increased the flexibility and usefulness of computers. Instead, they could simply direct the computer to perform one of the functions that it had stored in its memory.

As computers grew more powerful and the tasks they performed grew more complex, computer experts and scientists developed more complex sets of instructions that are executed automatically by the computers.

Advances in computer technology have made greater efficiencies of processing possible with out the need of manual operators. Most modern computers, particularly the personal computers are made and developed in a manner that they serve general purpose and that feature a high degree of programming flexibility.

As the computer technology has many diversified sub fields there are different roles defined for different sets of action and activities which cover the core technology of computing. The task of adapting an application program designed to run on one operating system to another computer system is often technically complex, and costly.

In recent years, software developers have developed programs to allow users to move files from one application program to another. Still the problem of compatibility between applications, programs and operating systems remains a major concern in the computer technology and software industry.

The major boost to the Information technology was due to the ever growing popularity of internet utility, which with the help of interactive support of web browsing really encompasses every aspect of toady’s life. Internet has gained such a positive boost and response in the modern day living that almost every thing seems related to it. The new television services and high dimension video, audio facilities are giving it more popularity with the common people.

The computer technology is proving as a necessity in the coming years and surely is one of the great means of entertainment; a single magical box which has almost every available communication service contained in it.

The web has become a mass media phenomenon. With the development of web browsers the personal computers have gained the ability to access a sea of information on the web from the millions of websites. Internet has become a transaction medium for most electronic commerce and it is one emerging field which has lot of potential. It gives the users a lot of freedom and convenience in making transactions with various vendors from the safety of their homes or offices.

With technology progressing as fast as it is at the present, it is a wonder we do not have a new mass-marketed gadget appearing every few minutes. Personal computers, once predicted to be owned by a mere handful of individuals, are everywhere nowadays. If you are a student a personal computer is virtually a necessity. Accompanying the ever-increasing popularity of the personal computer is a plethora of gadgets and technological advancements. Though it may not be every few minutes, it seems as though every couple of months we hear about a computer with more storage space or a new device that one can connect to their computer.

Some devices that appear on the market are either completely superfluous or not so accessible to the entirety of the population, whether it is because of their cost or their limited supply. The costly devices are reserved to those who can afford them, until some new gadget replaces them and the price of these machines decreases, much like any new technology that appears on the market. Those gadgets, which are unnecessary, are not overly practical and the market for these creations is comprised mainly of those with an affinity for such devices. Inventions like webcams, while they are certainly fun to play with, are essentially unnecessary as they have no bearing on the actual operation of the computer and are used largely for leisure computer activities.

The more purposeful advancements in computer technology revolve around those, which increase the computers ability to manage certain tasks and those, which increase the storage space of the computer. Many personal computer owners find themselves craving more space to store songs or various other files and often wishing that their computer were faster. Though many computers produced today have a excessive storage space, that is, it is nearly impossible to fill a personal computer to capacity, these types of advancements permit a much speedier and more efficient functioning computer.

Decision Time: Genetic, Robotic and Nano-Opportunities:

There is an abundance of technological threats and/or opportunities that mankind has before him. Whether or not there is an ethical basis upon which we might effectively utilize these technologies is something that worries many serious students of our species. The head of the Club of Rome says we do not even have terminologies for common concepts or words that cross ethnic and cultural borders. (1) Hobbes and other Platonic hierarchy types throughout history would argue that there is no good reason to think mankind can be responsible enough to get over ‘beating his chest’ in headlong pursuit of his ego driven or Machiavellian ‘appeals to base human urges’. (Il Principe)

We can wirehead the masses and make them all quite happy but we seem more interested in giving them pharmacological lobotomies according to Breggins and Cohen. We could do what the movie The Day The Earth Stood Still showed alien species had done with the robots to enforce peace. We could ensure free access to gene therapy and extend the life of all people till they can live to be as old as nine hundred years without parts replacement. According to some researchers this goal will be achieved by the year 2070 but it would necessitate changes in reproductive rights unless we are to make a concerted effort to start colonizing space soon. The decisions carry many downsides as well as upsides but the discussions don’t seem to be happening and we continue to train people for harmful or soon to be outmoded jobs. This article cannot address all the facts or factors but we must start the process.

Bill Joy the Killjoy:

The March/April 2000 issue of Wired Magazine article by the noted expert in technology who developed Java and was a founder of Sun Microsystems made more than a little impact in the editorial coverage for a few weeks in my local newspaper. He warned us about genetic engineering that could end life on earth without pointing out that the Israelis are trying to target their enemies with a genetic ethnic bomb. Perhaps he was not aware they are working on that but he was a part of the SALT talks. The most important thing he brought to the attention of readers was the prediction that by 2035 humanity will be redundant in the performance of most jobs.

He quoted experts in many fields of endeavor and I agreed with him that the dumping of human memory into sentient robots will not include the soul as people like Gary Hillis think. His sometimes debating partner Ray Kurzweil goes further (2) and speaks of even more rapid acceleration of technology. Not long after Joy’s article hit the stands we had NEC labs in Princeton, N. J. tell us they measured 300X light speed in a cesium chamber. Then came the US Army letting out faster than light information transfer contracts through Mr. Everitt in Durham, N. C. by November of that year. (3) The European attempt to reach Mars includes Ion Propulsion which can accelerate infinitely past the speed of light. Quantum Teleporting was a cover story in Scientific American around the same time and yet the uninformed so-called ‘experts’ often deny many possibilities that relate thereto. I personally believe that a combination of Virtual Reality technology, Holography and nanotechnology will allow a form of time travel for complex systems despite what Hawking said. Hawking said they know time travel exists in small particles.

There are many exciting potentials just around the corner in many diverse fields that Joy and Kurzweil are not even expert in. Neurotechnology and implants or prosthetics heads the list of my personal concerns. When I was an active participant on a Neuroscience forum recently I discovered these people have no moral idea of the implications of their work. Transhumanism (4) and Bostrom’s association that is relatively new already is fraught with fraud charges by other directors. Many of these people actually think it would serve the universe best if robots replace humans entirely. I can’t argue the logic against that perspective when I look at power-mongering and mud-slinging in the bureaucracies called democratic in media owned by Synarchists. But I implore people to wake up before it is too late. We must participate and insist the technologies and the future use of them are done for the Greater Good of all life on earth.

I agree with George Bush:

I found myself agreeing with George the Second of America when he pulled out of the Kyoto Accord. This raised the eyebrows of more than a few people I know. I believe he saw that salting the skies with chemicals which would lessen the apparent pollution would not kill more people in the short term and saving the billions of dollars required to implement Kyoto would not take into consideration the use of nanobots which soon will be able to clean up the pollution and maybe even make money harvesting the minerals in the process.

I also agree with George in the matter of spending more on space exploration but I am extremely concerned about SDI and HAARP as well as the Frequency Fence and the kind of weapons Dennis Kucinich tried to have removed from space. These weapons called non-lethal include mind control potentials that I cannot address in full in this article. In fact any reader of this article will have to do a lot of research to become aware of what is really going on. The issue includes viewing future technology and I demonstrate this has been done by more people than Leonardo, Nostradamus and Father Ernetti in my many books on these subjects. Dean Radin (5) and Stanford Research Institute as well as the Defense Intelligence Agency (6) are worth looking into. He works in Las Vegas. I lived there for many years near to S-4 and Area 51. The government says it does not even exist but I met many people who work there and other places like Tonopah.

George and the other Skull and Bones people that run for President of the United States would have us believe it is a mere boys club and there are books which supposedly expose them and other nefarious groups which are actually well-managed ‘Spin’. There are groups like The Pilgrims, Russell Foundation or Beacon Hill Mob (and lots of other names or alphabet soup agencies) who actually put front men like the Bushes in power.

Prescott Bush was named in court proceedings in reference to trading with the enemy and the funding of Hitler and he brought us Richard Nixon. His paladin status with the Rockefeller agents of the Rothschild or Merovingian complex is a nest of CIA or OSS involvement with the founding of The Bilderbergs and many other worthwhile research excursions. The Hegelian Dialectic or ‘playing both ends against the middle’ is not new but it is important. Eisenhower’s address on the military-industrial complex is a must read. (7)

The BEES or Benjaminite Rothschilds have been orchestrating supposedly New World Order throughout history. I demonstrate they include the De Medicis and Stuarts or Bruttii in more ways that their sponsorship of the translation of the Corpus Hermeticum into a book named after their family called De Brix. (8) The FED and IMF are outreaches of these Synarchists who get a piece of the action through arbitrage and other dastardly games. David Guyatt is a former financial wizard worth reading. (9) John Ralston Saul, who is the husband of the Governor-General of Canada and a former head of a Paris-based investment firm, says the end of the Bretton Woods Agreement was the single most important event of the 20th Century. George Orwell’s slogans like ‘War is Peace’ and ‘Love is Hate’ are eerily reminiscent of the current War on Terra which former CIA Director Woolsey calls WWIV. (10)

Are you concerned? Will you take my challenge and check out the following links? There is a potential to make everyone on earth as rich as Midas or Croessus and we can throw off the Malthusian One Pie ideology (11) but it requires some study and effort.

Technology can refer to material objects of use to the humanity such as, machines, hardware or utensils. It also encompasses broader themes, including systems, methods of organization, and techniques. This term can be applied either generally or specifically: like construction technology, medical technology and computer technology.

The use of technology by human race began with the conversion of natural resources into simple tools. The pre-historic discovery of the ability to control fire increased the available sources of food and the invention of the wheel helped humans in traveling and controlling their environment. Recent technological developments, including the printing press, the media, the telephone, and the internet have lessened physical barriers to communication and allowed humans to interact on a global scale.

Information technology and computers have attained a vital position in today’s world which is turning to a global village. The field of computers is a vast sea and there are many features and options available to choose from. Internet remains a constant and rapidly growing source of information on a broader spectrum. Now people don’t just use web browsers to gain information but can get any piece of required knowledge from any part of the world by just a few clicks on the web sites. As information is becoming much easier to access, the need of more web sites and knowledgeable sources is on the rise. New trends of web hosting, web publishing and content bloging are taking a more important place in the world of internet.

The term Information Technology was first used in November 1981, modernizing the outdated old phrase “data processing”. IT covers a broad area and is not just the domain of science related professionals but even professionals from arts and aesthetics utilize the splendors of this newly hyped source.

The early general purpose computers were made in such a way that they could easily be reprogrammed to carry out different tasks which involved plugging of switches and rerouting wirings. A number of early software designs comprised of circuits and ensured that the wires didn’t fuse. The necessity for convenience eventually allowed programmers to evolve and build basic punch-card systems. Even then, teams of technicians worked together to determine where holes were to be punched to appropriately determine change of function of the hardware of the computers.

Now software development programmers produce more complex applications by utilizing microprocessors, the cycle of more power full soft-ware and capable hardware with increasing amount of memory storage and processing powers.

Over the past decades, computing has become a model of technology usage that covers various services. These include office productivity applications to process and maintain documents and records, different web portals to view and share images videos and songs, social networking sites to interact with other net users across the globe and even net instant messaging services to communicate in real time. This list simply continues to grow.

Today, information technology forms the crux of modern society and development and at its core stands software development, steering entire operations by individuals or groups of challenging professionals.

It is hard to imagine a world without e-commerce nowadays, and more and more people are trying their hand at creating websites and earning money online. For anyone thinking of running an e-business, you have to give considerable thought and planning to the content management of your website. The web content management for your website involves a number of defined measures and schemes to optimize your site and your business.

Strike A Balance Between Content Management System And Website Requirement

The website can help boost the client’s presence and business over the internet. The content on the website needs to be in sync with the client’s products and services. The responsibility of the content management team is to pinpoint the most important areas of the business and emphasize those areas by effective use of copywriting and graphics. Here are the steps that the management team generally follow through the course of website development to satisfy the needs of the client:

* It is the responsibility of the management team to perform a postproduction review to see whether the content of the website will meet the needs of the customers visiting the site. So before uploading the pages, the content management thoroughly goes through the content once again.

* The responsibility of the content management does not end with placing the material on the server. The management is also responsible for updating the content to keep with the changes in the industry.

* The management should always keep their eyes and ears open to current affairs and make necessary additions or omissions as and when necessary.

Technical Aspect Of Content Management

* The creative process occupies a major portion of the content managers’ work. Yet they also have to have a good idea about the technical aspects of web related activities.

* They should also be aware of the several kinds of content management software that can help to enhance the quality of the output.

* One of the major responsibilities of content management is to make the visitor experience to the website informative and at the same time user friendly. The website should be easily accessible from any part of the world and capable of supplying the information the visitor seeks. The content management ensures this level of efficiency of the website.

So if you want to make your company’s presence felt in the cyber world, you have to focus on the aspect of content management. First be clear about the goals for your website and how you expect it to impact your business, and then hire a good website development company to help you accomplish your goal.

It is almost unimaginable to live in a world without the internet. And in the same token, it is also unimaginable to have no content on the internet. Behind the thousands of bites of digital information are the content writers and providers. In turn the driving force behind the content writers are the content management teams. To put it into everyday terms, if the content writers are like the movie actors, then the content managers are like the directors of the film. The writers provide the content, but it is the managers that channel the content towards a proper direction and optimal and manageable form.

In the cyber world, contents are the end products that are served to the consumers, that is, the visitors to a particular website. Now content does just not mean the actual content and topic. The manner in which the content is presented is also equally important, and it is the graphic designers that enhance the presentability of any write up.

So content writing and graphic designing are the two major aspects of content management. The primary job of the content management system is to establish a smooth blending of these two aspects. They are also simultaneous processes, so another responsibility of the content management is to maintain coordination between these two aspects of production.

The content management system is also the conduit between the client and the writer and graphic designer. It is the responsibility of the content management to clearly explain the client’s requirement and view to the creative team; in turn the writer translates the client’s idea into clear and concise writing, and the graphic designer expresses the idea into visual form. The finished product is then presented to the client by the content manger.

The web content management also blends creativity and technology. The editors in the content management team should be fully aware of the latest technologies available in the market and use them intelligently to enhance production value and reduce the cost of production.

After the creative process, the editors of the content management team then reviews the whole product and makes improvement where necessary in order to meet the needs of the clients.

Lastly and most importantly, the content managers also examine the legal aspects of the products. It is their responsibility to check whether the copyright rules have been properly followed or not.

Now the content is ready to be uploaded to the server. The content management has finished its full cycle.
